General information

We expect all members to follow our guidelines. Pleas read and understand the following topics before you attend your first sessions. If anything is unclear please contact the board

On Court

  • Respect the other players time and be ready to play 5 minutes before the practice starts.  Players might receive strikes if late arrivals become a significant problem (see "Booking and rules" for more information).
  • When attending common practices, you are expected to bring your own racket, shoes and a few tennis balls for everyone to play with.
  • If it’s raining during an outdoor-session, it will automatically be cancelled. The surface gets slippery (hardcourt) and  clay courts are also especially vulnerable for damage when they are wet, and it’s strictly forbidden to use them when there is visible water at the surface.
  • Leave the courts in a better state than when you arrived. Follow the local rules for utilising the facilities. When playing on clay courts sweep the court and brush the lines when you are finished. If you encounter faulty equipment or other problems, please contact the people in charge of the facilities or contact someone from OSI Tennis board.
  • Make sure to not leave any trash behind outside of the trashcan.

Behaviour

As a member of OSI Tennis, you represent our club to the outside world. It is important for our reputation that all of our players behave in a good manner.

  • Never throw the racket.
  • Keep swearing to a minimum.
  • Carry out good sportsmanship through honest fairplay, and always being friendly towards fellow players.

Handling of Conflicts

To ensure that everyone is enjoying their time with OSI Tennis we are encourage you solve conflicts at the lowest level and as early as possible to avoid escalation. If this isn't possible you can always contact the board for help. Please make sure to only involve the parties that are apart of the conflict

  • We employ "Spond" for online practice and course bookings. Upon membership registration and semester fee payment, you'll receive a Spond group invitation. Create a user using the same email as your membership registration.
  • Access Spond via PC/tablet at Spond Website or download the app. It's advisable to get the app and disable email notifications.
  • Training sessions are held throughout the week, usually between 10:00 - 14:00 daytime, and 21:00 - 23:00 or 22:00 - 00:00 in the evening. Popular practices might fill quickly during high enrolment.
  • We adjust practice counts based on demand and club finances. While we aim to cater to all schedules, we can't ensure specific session availability.
  • Outdoor limit: 3 sessions/week. Indoor: 2 sessions/week.
  • Commit to attending when signing up.
  • No cancellations within 24 hours on Spond. If spots are open within this time frame, you can still attend without impacting your weekly limit.
  • Participants are not allowed to register for sessions intended for members at a lower level. However, this restriction will be lifted when there are only 24 hours left before the session.
  • If spots become available within 24 hours of a session due to sickness or a similar reason, they are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The waiting list does not operate as a queue system where the first person on the list has priority over the last - so be ready to claim the spot when a spot opens.
  • Spots are first come, first served.
  • Sign-ups open 5 days ahead.
  • Common practices: 4-8 spots, based on 1 or 2 courts.
  • Some sessions (lower echelons) have a coach; check Spond. It is only allowed to sign up for 1 coaching session per week.
  • Sessions can be cancelled on short notice (not to common)
  • If you are the only one attending practice within 24 hours attendance is optional

Our strike system is in place to optimise court usage and practice attendance.

  • Cancel only if necessary.
  • 24-hour Rule: Ensure 24 hours before cancelling.
  • Strikes: Not adhering to the 24-hour rule results in a strike. Three strikes in a semester = 2-week suspension.
  • Illness: Inform on Spond within 24 hours.
  • Arriving >10 mins late: 1 strike
  • Cancelling <24 hours before a session: 1 strike
  • Cancelling <24 hours but spot taken by another: 0 strikes (notify waiting list if you can't attend)
  • No-show without informing others: 2 strikes
  • Exceeding weekly practice sign-up limit: 1 strike
  • Repeatedly playing at an inappropriate skill level: 1 strike

Strikes are communicated via Spond. Accumulating three strikes in a semester results in a two-week practice suspension.

Reporting & Communication: Please inform the board (via Spond messages) of no-shows or rule violations.

The membership is paid through an invoice after the sign-up process on our web page. Additional payments (such as course fees) are paid by the use of “VIPPS” – a mobile paying solution available for everyone with a Norwegian phone number. Members without a Norwegian phone number will receive an accumulated invoice, with all expenses gathered together at the end of each semester. If you have problems regarding payments of any kind, please contact “okonom@tennis.osi.no”.
